My intention was to finish up yesterday’s ‘To Do’s’ and then lock myself in the Cave — my office — until the video and blog were both completed and shipped.
That is what I fully intended to do, but it was a busy day!
I got my hair cut for the first time since mid-March, just before I started my final round of testing and the beginning of my conditioning Chemo. I’ve started looking just a little scruffy lately, and Lenny — the same guy I’ve been going to since I actually had hair, and a dear family friend — said it was time.
We celebrated a birthday with lunch and a couple Lesley has known since Junior High School. A couple I’ve known since I’ve known Lesley, and some of the best Huevos Rancheros I’ve ever had!
After that, we went over to our son and daughter-in-law’s house to spend the balance of the day with them, our new granddaughter and her big sister.
By the time we arrived back at the house I was wiped out. But the Force was strong in my office, and the gravitational pull of work was almost insurmountable. I had opened the door and was reaching for the light switch when I realized that if I succumbed — turned the lights and the computer on — I might qualify as a full-fledged hypocrite! Especially, after admonishing you to take time off for good behavior.
I beat back that urge to take a few minutes to sharpen the saw. To get some rest and recharge my batteries. To think about something other than work and it paid dividends this morning and afternoon when I completed all the tasks I set out for myself for this weekend earlier than even I expected.
So, this is my weekend of Do as I Say AND I as I Do! And, my weekend to suggest you do the same whenever you can…
In the end, I’ll bet you thank me for the advice. That is, if you take it!
