Food for Thought…
This is a different kind of post. It’s an “ask,” but the “ask” is not for me. It’s for folks who find themselves struggling and hungry during these challenging times. Families having trouble feeding themselves. Kids going to sleep hungry.
A stranger who became a dear friend told me about the event. Someone who helped support my stem cell/bone marrow transplant through Team in Training and their generous donations of blood and platelets.
It seems generosity and goodness run in the family. This event is being organized by his son-in-law. It’s for the City of Angels Food Drive and will occur this Sunday, May 24, between 9am and 1pm, at the Encino Little League parking lot, 5120 Hayvenhurst Ave, Encino, CA 91426.
If you are fortunate enough to have something you can spare. A jar of Peanut Butter, a can of tuna fish, canned stews, vegetables, soups, fruit, or tomato sauce. Rice, beans, macaroni and cheese, pasta, cereal or toilet paper. And, you’re anywhere near the Encino Little League grounds please consider sharing your good fortune.
If you live out of the area or you are not able to make it to Encino take a moment to search for a similar opportunity in your neighborhood. Donate something you probably won’t miss to someone who could really use the help.
