Have you ever wondered how many people are really interested in an answer after they’ve asked you how you’re doing? I have and the number isn’t pretty. Nevertheless, I always try to answer honestly when the question does come up just in case.
The question did come up earlier today in a conversation with an old friend. Someone who was really interested in the progress I’ve made since the transplant. It was great catching up for a number of reasons! Not the least of which was the opportunity to ask him the same pointed question.
Perhaps, the most interesting part of our dialogue was an observation he had about the majority of the topics I’ve shared recently. He pointed out that most of them were related to business, management, life, and leadership. And, that very few had anything to do with the present state of my health and well being. Once we were done I realized he was right.
I haven’t been talking much about how I’m doing, frankly because I don’t know!
Oh, I know I feel OK… I know my energy level is normal or at least what normal feels like today. I can walk three to five miles without needing to call a Lyft or an Uber to get me back to the house! And, as far as I can tell, the “Mitch Meter” is reading green and that will have to serve as good enough. At least, until I get the results of my most recent bone marrow biopsy and see my Doc for a follow-up and blood work on the 20th.
That’s when I’ll know how I’m really doing.
Now, I have a question for you. With everything that’s going on… How you doin’?blood workbone marrow biopsyfollow-uphealthHow you doin'?labspresent state of healthresults
