Lesley and I needed to get out of the house for a few hours the other day and decided to head north and west toward the ocean. That translated to an hour ride there and then an hour back. With a few minutes to get out of the car, stretch our legs, and then head home the timing would be just about perfect.
The ride would also provide an opportunity to listen to the Audible of Misfire: What to Do When Things Aren’t Running on All Cylinders.
Some of you are shaking your heads right now, thinking “Hasn’t he read and listened enough? My, God! It seems like he’s been talking about Misfire forever!” And, you’re right, it seems like he has. Especially, to him!
But I never just sat down to read Misfire as it was meant to read. Or, listened to it the way a normal person might. Up until the time we got into the car and I opened the narration, Misfire and I enjoyed a tenuous, sometimes contentious relationship of seemingly endless edits and revisions.
This time proved to be very different, almost like finding yourself a guest in your home. I got to sit back and listen to the story develop and unfold. I was able to watch as a number of the characters were introduced for the first time.
I’m not going to lie. Hearing your own words come to life was magical! I found myself lost in the storyline just as I hoped my readers and listeners would.
And, the best part of it all? And, I apologize in advance for the way this may sound… It was good!
In fact, it was everything I hoped it could be and more!
