Life is What Happens

John Lennon was right when he said, “Life is what happens when you’re making other plans…” and today was living proof of that. A day so busy I not only forgot we would be headed to Duarte, California, and the City of Hope. I almost forgot to get this blog post out.

The day was filled with a host of productive accomplishments that ranged from the longest walk I’ve taken since we’ve been home to a meeting with my Editorial Director. From preparing and sending out a number of Press Releases for Misfire to working on an annoying computer glitch.

But, busy — even crazy busy — can be good, especially when it distracts you from the normal monkey brain chatter and Lizard Brain whispering that always precedes a Clinic visit and a new series of blood tests. Busy can be good as long as it is important busy: productive busy. The kind of busy that will help make things better or easier for you or for someone you care about in the future.

Important busy is good when it’s focused on something worthwhile, like your health. Both, mental and physical. It’s good when it’s focused on important work and ensuring that it ships on time.

Today was good enough I find myself satisfied with what I got done instead of beating myself to death about what still waits to be done! Hopefully, your day was equally as productive.

My day was good for another reason. Or, at least, this evening was. It was good because for perhaps for the first time I listened to my body and bowed off the floor when I felt forcing myself to continue would have been counterproductive.

All in all, it was a day where lots of things happened including a good measure of life.

Until tomorrow, stay well and take care.
