So, What Exactly Constitutes a “Good Day?”

I missed the opportunity to sit down and create a blog post yesterday. All kinds of factors contributed to the day just plain getting away from me. But they were ‘good’ factors: great excuses for not doing something I truly have come to enjoy doing. Lots of reasons not to do something I really would like to have done.

Today was almost an instant replay of yesterday’s inability to find the time it takes to put the video and description together.

Today was a Clinic day with a 9:00 AM Lab appointment, followed by a 10:00 AM visit with my Hematologist/Oncologist. That means getting up at 0:DARK:30 AM in order to get out of the house early enough to make the 60-mile drive, coping with the accidents and traffic that make that commute an adventure.

But my numbers were good — steadily but slowly creeping up — which more than compensates for the traffic and stress. Follow that with my Doc asking if I could visit with another of his Primary Myelofibrosis transplant patients currently undergoing his conditioning Chemotherapy, and you have the foundation for an incredibly sweet and profoundly meaningful day. Especially, when that meeting goes well and you’re able to make a difference by sharing your knowledge and experience.

That was followed by lunch with our daughter and a visit with Lesley’s neuro-ophthalmologist, with another great outcome.

Yesterday began with my helping a friend with a research project that took us all over the San Fernando Valley. That was followed by a visit with our newest granddaughter, her mother and sister, and then a client dinner in Santa Monica that included our son, Ryan, and was attended by a number of close friends.

Time spent with people you love and respect. Events that include family and friends. Activities that are meaningful, productive and serve the needs of others. Can a day get much ‘good-er’ than that?
