One of the first things veteran presenters will share with a rookie is the First Addage of Speaking:
“Tell ’em what you’re gonna tell ’em… Tell ’em… Tell ’em what you just told ’em!”
It makes perfect sense because one of the first things you realize when you’ve been up in front of a group is that it takes repetition to penetrate a bunch of brains dealing with their own struggles with monkey-brain chatter. The challenge is hitting all three in an artful way! It has to be done so the message doesn’t become repetitious. I hope I don’t violate that presentation caveat here.
I’ve been talking about the challenge I’ve been facing with regard to which of my two websites to use as a home for the columns I’ve been writing to the repair community for longer than I care to remember.
The bad news is, it’s been a struggle. The good news is—thanks to your suggestions and comments—the struggle is over.
I’ve decided to place everything industry-related on the mitchschneidersworld.com site and that includes the columns that would normally have appeared in one of the industry trade publications. And, just about everything else—including these blogs—along with the educational materials I’m working on now. The goal isn’t going to be Separate, but Equal. It will be Separate, but appropriate.
In all honesty, I’m not sure I will be the best judge of what goes where. All I can promise you is that I’ll try. As I’ve never done anything like this before, it will be up to you to let me know how I’m doing.
So, look for Pivot to appear on www.mitchschneidersworld.com as column MSW 20.1 on August 31. And, for The Simple Elegance of the Way Things Fit, to appear on September 1, as MSW 20.2.
